The only official Sonic manga so far, this started as a serial in Shogaku-Yonensei
("Elementary School") magazine. Apparently, the serial ended four or five years ago, and outside
of some doujinshi (fan manga), there has been nothing further on the Japanese front.
Here is an image from one
of the pages in a story titled: "Save Little John". The image was scanned from a French gaming

James Wallis, Nigel Gross, Jon Suitherland, Marc Gascoigne, and Jonathan Green. The series
includes Metal City Mayhem, Zone Rangers, Sonic vs. Zonik (1994), The
Zone Zapper (1994), Theme Park Panic (1995), and Stormin' Sonic (1996).

Troll Associates publishes a series of Sonic the Hedgehog junior novels, written by Michael
Teitelbaum and based on the ABC Saturday morning cartoon. The first is Sonic the
Hedgehog, followed a year later by Robotnik's Revenge. In 1995 came Fortress of
Fear, Friend or Foe, and Sonic & Knuckles. An activity book (featuring
puzzles, mazes, secret codes, hidden pictures, etc.) wrapped things up. This series is only
available in the US.

Virgin Books publishes a series of Sonic the Hedgehog junior novels, written by Martin Adams.
The series includes Sonic the Hedgehog in Robotnik's Laboratory, Sonic the Hedgehog in
the Fourth Dimension, Sonic the Hedgehog and the Silicon Warriors, and the final book
in the series (released in 1994): Sonic the Hedgehog in Castle Robotnik. This series is
only available in the UK.

A European research center is studying hedgehog genes, when a brand new one is discovered. The
team responsible for the find decided to name the gene "Sonic", after you-know-who. The name was
decided on when one of the researchers came across an ad for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 in a
magazine, and thought the name perfectly described the general attitude of the research team
behind the discovery.
