An OAV
(original animated video) movie based on "Sonic the
Hedgehog" is released in Japan. Dr. Eggman decides that
the Earth of the Sky on which all of society dwells is a
nuisance to the abandoned, dark core below. So he
intends to blow that outer layer apart by destroying a
thin canal in the arctic regions of the planet that
holds the whole thing together. To help him achieve
this, he creates plans for a robot duplicate of
Sonic...Metal Sonic. But, he needs Sonic's biological
data to complete the design, and the only way to do that
is to get our hedgehog hero in the right place. Thus, he
dupes Sonic into taking a visit to Eggmanland on the
dark world below, and kidnaps Sera, the President's
daughter, as further incentive. Sonic, Tails, and
Knuckles fall right into Eggman's trap, and it's now up
to them to clean up the mess they started.
The movie comes in two thirty-minute videos, "Journey
to Eggmanland" and "Sonic vs. Metal Sonic." Published by
Wishbone and Taki Corporation, the videos sell for
¥3,980 each. Directed by Kazuho Ikegami. Voice talents
of Masami Kikuchi as Sonic, Hekiru Shiina as Tails,
Yasunori Matsumoto as Knuckles, Mika Kanai as Sera, and
Junpei Taniguchi as Dr. Eggman. For more info, check out

"Sonic
Christmas Blast," Sonic's very own Christmas special,
premieres on USA network. Based on the syndicated "The
Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog" series. Robotnik's
laid the snatch on Santa Claus, and decides he needs to
change the rules of Christmas. With Santa out of the
way, "Robotnik Claus" orders all the citizens of Mobius
to give all their presents to him! Well, our pals
Sonic and Tails just won't stand for that! With Santa's
help, Sonic finds the secret of "Super Velocity" and
puts a wrench into Robotnik's plans, restoring peace --
and Christmas -- to Mobius. (Who the hell gets
away with writing this stuff?) |
