January 3 "Sonic Underground" animated cartoon series from DiC begins its syndicated run in France. Sonic the Hedgehog, his brother Manic, and his sister Sonia circle the planet in search of their mother -- the queen. Along the way, the three siblings raise the spirits of repressed citizens with their music band, Sonic Underground. Unfortunately, Dr. Robotnik is conducting his own search for the queen in the meanwhile, and a clash of causes is sure to ensue.

· Digi-LOG Conversation: Sonic Adventure Original Sound Track, the original soundtrack of Sonic Adventure, is released in Japan.
July 15 -- Sonic Adventure: Limited Edition, an incomplete build of the North American version of Sonic Adventure is made available for rental through Hollywood Video and playable through Dreamcast kiosks at various retailers.
August 30
"Sonic Underground" animated cartoon series from DiC begins its syndicated run in the US. Jaleel White ("Urkel") returns to provide the voices of all three main characters: Sonic, Manic, and *shudder* Sonia.
September 7 ADV Films releases "Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie" (the Sonic anime) in the US. Available on both VHS and DVD formats.
September 9 -- Sonic Adventure is launched with the Sega Dreamcast in the US.
October 14
-- Sonic Adventure: International on the Sega Dreamcast is released in Japan.

-- Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island on the Sega Saturn is released in Japan.
