Mim Su Sa First Draft Completed
Ever had the feeling that the last part of something takes longer than the rest of the item in question. Like slowing down at the last ten cents of a $50 fill-up of gas, just so you can get at the exact amount.
It’s the same thing for Mim Su Sa as well. It took me a while for me to get the last plot card worked on, but I managed. I can say now that I have finished the first draft of ‘Murder in Main Street USA,” way before even the unadjusted deadline of July 3rd.
The length of the file is 38.25K in characters, and it took me 41 Days. Not bad for my first major attempt to NaNoWriMo (and my second book.) Yeah, yeah, I know. A NaNoWriMo goal is 50K in 31 days. Let me work toward that, okay?
I’ll be stashing the first draft for a while so I can rest up for a bit. After that I’ll start on the plot cards for my third book. Either Blood and Metal or maybe my next NaNoWriMo attempt, an Adam Packbell book. Probably BaM, since I can squeeze a NaNoWriMo between drafts in BaM.
But anyway, this is a major event. Even with the setback I had, I succeeded in my goal.
Why do you recycle posts from deviantart (or the other way around) here? what’s the point of having several blogs then?

Because not everybody here comes from DeviantART. There’s always someone new visiting my site, especially when I post my web site everywhere I go. And if I just use DA, there’s always a chance that someone who only visits the main site won’t see it. So I port some of the posts. (Some, not all. I didn’t port the part about me worrying about someone talking smack about my mother and her breast cancer, did I?)

Side Note: Some among you might think I’ve failed because I didn’t reach the 50K mark in length. Just as a reminder, I wasn’t focusing on the length of the file, but the deck of note cards I had for the plotline. I wanted to go through the deck as fast as I can. I didn’t know how long the story itself is going to be, Could be 30K could be 60K, and I wanted to keep an eye on the length as a benchmark anyway.
Besides, this is only the first draft. The Closed Door Draft, as Steven King would say. Now that I got the first draft set, I can look it over and see what else I can do with it as I make the first edits. There’s a good chance I need to add some parts, adding to the length.
It’s also the first time I really did try a NaNoWriMo book and I didn’t expect to do 50K in 30 days on my first time. I’ll eventually work up to that.
