But to answer your question, It’s kinda like why I got so pissy over Archie Comics with Sonic #47. But thanks to my prescription I’m not flying off the handle. Not only did they kill off two of the most important characters in the ‘616′ Universe, namely Steve “Captain America” Rogers and Professor X. But if you ask me, it’s Cap getting wacked that really has my briefs in a bunch. And then they got Peter Parker good and stoned and made him think that making a deal with the devil to give up his relationship with MJ so that Aunt May can be dragged back to live was the tipping point (Come *on* people, Spider-man’s no rookie, he would know these things!)

That’s why I thought about giving Stan Lee–or any other jerk responsible for the sordid state of affairs in 616-land–an impromptu one-step sex change operation. Compared to what I’ve done about a decade ago, I’m rather laid back about it, don’t you think? Three Cheers for Psychotropic Drugs. Tom Cruise doesn’t know Jack Frack.

I know how that caterwauling online makes as much sense as winning in the Special Olympics, so I channeled my anger into Blood and Metal, but what I’ve put in there will remain a spoiler for now. Let’s just say that it involves a Classic Marvel Comic (And before you ask, it’s an actual printed comic, the paper kind, not a Marvel Character. This is another reason why I delayed: People who use pseudonyms of Comic Book Legends could actually think I’m making Blood and Metal a Marvel Fanfiction, and go off on a poo-slinging tangent.) and how it would so some gentle prodding in the right direction.

I basically write a crude outline (more like an ordered list of various scenes, dialogs, and other plot points) and add or subtract cards as I go along writing the project. Sometimes I have to move some scenes around, or even further break down one card into several new cards if a scene put on one card needs more explanation. It’s basically breaking down the proverbial element into the numerous bites. In advance, before you start ‘eating’.

I hear you about the creative block. It happens to all of us, even the real big names. There are also other tools I use to hop over those blocks, like Mind Maps. Go to Wikipedia ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mind_Mapping ) and find out how this fun tool can really help you.

Besides, this is only the first draft. The Closed Door Draft, as Steven King would say. Now that I got the first draft set, I can look it over and see what else I can do with it as I make the first edits. There’s a good chance I need to add some parts, adding to the length.

It’s also the first time I really did try a NaNoWriMo book and I didn’t expect to do 50K in 30 days on my first time. I’ll eventually work up to that.
