While the Planeswalker was in her home world of Dominaria, this Llanowar Elf was her constant companion, a little folk who owes her life to the Planeswalker, saving her from an attack which killed the rest of her family, and has become her servant because of it, always at the wizard's beck and call or by her feet as she's sitting down. When Planeswalker went to Earth locking the portal from Earth's end, Tal'En'Tara found a way to traverse the otherwise sealed portal by sending her soul into the body of an otherwise stillborn Human child. Born with the name of Tal, she became Jamie's best friend and fellow duelist, oblivious of her heritage until Jamie returned from that fateful visit to her father with a mysterious yet familiar pendant and an alternate personality. It was then when her memories and form of her true self resurfaced, including her D/s relationship.
As her true self, Tal'En'Tara selflessly does whatever she is told to do to assist her Lady in her continued cause, to protect Earth from the Forces from her home realm. However, she still remembers the good times she had as Tal, and continues to be a pair with Jamie, even though both of them have apparently changed, and it's not just the pointy ears.
Not a true Duelist per se, Tal's range of spells fall into the White/Green protection and life gain variety, and hail back to Ice Age and possibily prior. It is rumored that she got those spells by inheritance to her family which was destroyed. She considers the use of her spells merely as a part of her service to Planeswalker. As a M:TG player, Tal's dueling decks are purely casual in nature, and while Jamie's helping her make a kick-butt deck for serious play, Tal wonders that she may not have the fortitude to actually play for higher stakes.
