Finals Zone
Yes kids, it's that time of year. *Doomsday Zone music begins streaming in
from nowhere* I don't know how the schedules run in everyone else's neck of the woods, but here
at good ol' UL (known as "USL" for a century), December 4-9 is finals week. One of two weeks
out of every year that we hapless students must actually quit slacking off and spend ungodly
chunks of our free time in that morbid, sub-human state known as "studying." This is, of course,
to make up for the fact that we have been slacking off all semester and now have less than
three or four days to cram the four and a half months worth of material we didn't pay any
attention to the first time. And while I could well use this as an excuse to take another week
off, I won't...because I only have one actual final this week. *snicker* Don't go and think
I'm getting off all scot free, though...I've got the remaining buttload of art homework all due
on Monday, but barring Thursday's math final, I'll actually have the whole week off. But alas,
nothing good comes without a price (except playing PSO online in the USA, babeee!), and I've got
a nasty, nasty weekend ahead of me.
The other day at work I was flipping through Steven Kent's The First
Quarter, which might be a very interesting read if I cared to spend $30 on a book. Anyway,
there's a little caption that caught my interest...right alongside the book's lone pic of Yuji
Naka was a caption that described him as -- among other things such as "brilliant" and a
"perfectionist" -- temperamental. I kind of found that interesting. One would presume this
simply means that our great ol' Uncle Yuji is unpredictable, something I'm sure most of us who
have never actually met him understand by default. Or does it actually mean that the man has a
hot-tempered streak? Only his hairdresser knows for sure...
Alot of sites make a big deal out of box art. At Gaming Intelligence, they
have an unhealthy and downright disturbing affection for it. I guess this must mean that there
are people out there who are turned on by getting a peek at box art before the game it belongs
to is actually released. So for all of you out there with a box art fetish:
PSO: Got it Covered. Please be sure to clean up after
yourselves.
Screenshots! I need buttloads and buttloads of screenshots, and I need some
volunteers to help me capture them all. If you have the equipment to stab some high-res stills
from any of the following games, please contact me
and we'll work something out. All your contributions, of course, will be credited to you and
big helpers will be prominently linked if so desired. All right, now the list of games I need
help getting screens for: Sonic CD, Chaotix, NiGHTS, Sonic Blast (aka G Sonic), Sonic's
Schoolhouse, Christmas NiGHTS, Sonic Jam, Sonic R, Burning Rangers, Sonic Adventure, ChuChu
Rocket!, Sonic Pocket Adventure, Samba de Amigo, and Sonic Shuffle. Additionally, although I
know it's a nigh impossible task, if you by some miracle happen to be able to nab screens of
Waku Waku Patrol Car, Space Fighter Galaxy Patrol, Sonic Arcade, Sonic's Gameworld, Tails and the
Music Maker, Sonic the Fighters, or the arcade version of Samba de Amigo, then I can sure use
those, too. And finally, if anyone feels up to playing through the Phantasy Star classics to get
some screens of those for the PSO Legacy page, that would also be greatly appreciated. I know
it's alot of volunteer work to ask, but it's not like it's for me...we're talking about
preserving Sonic history, here. Hey, that's why I'm going through all this trouble in the first
place. It's not like I'm getting paid for it or anything. *enthusiastically raises his
fist into the air* For Sonic! And besides, I'm not taking this paragraph down until I get
enough help, so there.
