The collected writings of David “T. Lurker" Frisk

When I went to college, I majored in English. The thought was if I studied hard enough, I could become a professional writer. Didn’t happen quite as I expected, though. Either way, I still fancied myself as one, even if real life would get in the way. When I first put this site up back in 2009, there was a reason I placed this section right on the top. However, I’ve never been as consistent at it as I should...which is also why the link has been broken for a decade.

I’ve finally decided to put something on here. Is this everything I’ve written? Well, no. I might update it with older pieces as I stumble across them, but there’s still plenty that I want to write about. Having this page here is as much an archive of my own work as it is motivation for me to go “oh right, I want to fill this up with all sorts of wonderful nonsense.”

Have a click of a time.

Short Stories and Such

Horse Sense with David Frisk
Back in 2006, Sammybeany asked me to start writing a column for his webpage. I made two before the entire thing went defunct. Once a main feature of HAWTMW, it has been moved here. Because, well. Why not?
Blogspot Blog
When this site was new, I started a blog. I put it on the front page, and said “Sometimes I feel as if I should have a blog. However, I never have anything important to say. Thus, it dies.” Spoilers: it died.
Funny Little Detective Stories
That’s not what the name will be. You can’t read them yet. But if I have this staring at me, maybe I’ll finally finish them.
Is This A Poem (2020)
A short poem, very important.
Dogs Don’t Know It’s Not Bacon (2020)
A newly updated version of a story I wrote back in 2012. A dark take on the classic Beggin Strips commercials. It’s a little weird?
Forgotten Remembrence
Writing a good poem is a honed, refined craft that not everyone can do. It’s easy to write bad poetry, and even easier to find. I can’t say if this is good or bad, but I can say I wrote it on July 17, 2019.
When The Heist Rings At Midnight
Sometimes, in the middle of a conversation, I’m suddenly overcome with the urge to write a quick short story based on what we’re discussing. This is a late example from 2019, featuring everyone's favorite Iizuka.
An Omelette By Any Other Name
While playing Sonic Mania, Alpha Gamboa saw one of the bosses in a new light. From that, the original character Eggette was born, and everyone quickly started drawing fanart of her. Before she became oversaturated, I wrote this to amuse myself and the people over at Sonic Fan Games HQ. But since no one goes to the forums, this was quickly buried.
The Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Island Finally Has A Name
On April 1st, 2016, Big’s Big Fishing Adventure 3: The Trial was released. As a reward, I was given the opportunity to “officially unofficially” name the island from Sonic the Hedgehog 4. Barry the Nomad covers the moment, which includes some officially unofficial Sonic lore written by me, connected to the name. Is it canon? That is the question.
“It Is Time You All Knew The Truth...”
On January 2nd, 1999, the Sonic 2 “Beta” was discovered on the Internet. For years, it was assumed the original prototype had been stolen at a toy show. Seems we were wrong.
Thirst (2006)
Sometimes, even in the middle of the night, the call is too strong. The prologue to A Tale of #lemonade, a story that now only exists in the archives. If you remember it and really want to reread it, ask me privately. Otherwise...eh.
The Adventures of Sailor Taft
It began as a joke on The Moogle Cavern. Keith John Stack drew a picture. I felt compelled to write an accompanying story. Original draft from 2006.
The Sonic the Hedgehog Chronicals (1997)
When I was but a youth, I was filled with the desire to write Sonic the Hedgehog fanfiction. However, everytime I would start, I would give up and start over. What little I did finish never saw the light of day. Until now.
Note: Yes, “Chronicals” is a misspelling of the word “Chronicles.” Spell check was a foreign concept.
Two Short Stories I Wrote When I Was A Child (1996)
When I was even more of a youth, I sat down in front of a computer and wrote a story. Then another. And somehow, I still have them.

The Sonic Retro Front Page

Mobius: 25 Years Later: The Review
Sixteen installments, fifty thousand words, one storyline that was meant to forever change the Sonic the Hedgehog comic book series. Quite possibly my Retro magnus opus.
How Archie Played The Games
Before tackling M:25YL, I started an Archie review series taking a look at the video game adaptations they wrote. I haven’t yet finished it, stopping right before Sonic Adventure. Look, M:25YL took a lot out of me. But here’s what I did get to.
Sonic-Grams
My first series on Retro, I took a look at “Sonic Grams,” the letters columns for the Archie books. Vol. 2 has my favorite letter ever written to the book. Can you guess why? (It’s because it’s wonderfully insane)
Sonic the Hedgehog Christmas Extravaganza
During the 2010 and 2011 holiday season, I tried to update the front page of Sonic Retro with all sorts of Sonic-related Christmas wonder. 2011 was the only year that I managed to pull off the “Twelve Days of Christmas” shtick.
On the Xth day of Christmas, Retro Gave to Me...
12 Days of Sonic Retro Christmas 2011 Edition
Everything Else
A handful of other notable articles I’ve written for Sonic Retro over the years. I will say, on retrospect, I might have been a bit too mean when it came to reviewing something like Return to Little Planet 2. Maybe I could re-review some of these things? Or not.

Return.
