Fields of Fire
Here is a poem I wrote that is related to the Sonic universe. Specifically, it was inspired by the Lava Reef Zone in Sonic and Knuckles. It's not the world's best poem, or even MY best, but on the other paw, it's not THAT bad, either, so, I thought I'd use it to kick off Sandopolis's poetry section.
"Fields of Fire"
What is this horrible place?
The hiss of deadly gasses fills the air.
Smoke and plumes of fire everywhere,
I can feel the heat searing my face.
Sparkling blue crystal, so perfect and pure.
Oh, what a wonderful lie.
Lovely and innocent-looking, sure--
--but any foolish enough to come here die.
Rocks explode, metal melts,
Lava all around me falls,
The ceiling glows red as sunset;
Spikes extend from the burning walls.
Run! Run! Get away! Flee!
The floor I stand on is crumbling;
the magma beneath is breaking free.
How can I get out of here?
How can I escape?
Am I ever to breathe fresh air again?
Or is death by fire to be my fate?

curious Mobians and Floating Islanders have been foolish enough to attempt to read Chaos Theory's horrible poetry since May 18, 1999. Of course, they all died tragic, horrible, painful deaths.
