There is TONS of slowdown...and from a game that touts SPEED SPEED SPEED!!! 2. The time travel feature is sloppy at best. It's horribly implemented, they could have done a much better job. 3. The lyrics to the toe-tapping intro song are REALLY corny. 4. It's just Sonic, plays almost IDENTICAL to Sonic 1&2. First the good points. Basically it is a walk though each level fighting game where you can punch kick and jump through 7 long levels. I have never seen graphics like this on the sega cd. As you move through each level, everything stays in a 3d like perspective (hard to explain you have to see it). The character you play is quite animated it looks like they digitized a real person. When you move from room to room in the castle the whole room rotates very smoothly it is quite an effect. Now the bad points. The full motion video scenes from the movie are absolutely horrible. Yes they are full screen but to accomplish this the resolution was sacrificed. The game itself looks good but has a dithered look. Game play is hard the control is good, but sometimes there are so many things on the screen that you just get hit no matter what. Also the continues take you back all the way to the beginning of the level you are currently on. One thing which is really hurting the sega cd in my opinion is the 64 color barrier. If the developers had 256 colors dracula as well as other games would look outstanding. Even the full motion video would look better. Dracula is a breakthough game which actually uses the cd storage medium quite well but I feel that games such as this including Slipheed should have been ready or at least close to ready when the sega cd was released a year ago, Hopefully there will be a steady stream of titles from now on. Just some other tidbit news, NHL Hockey 94 and Bill Walsh College Football is being released for Sega Cd and should be out in time for xmas. The only thing that is different from the cartridge versions are a few enhancements to the sound. I am waiting for some good RPG games to be released. :) EricSubj: wrong folder Date: 93-11-01 05:01:52 EST From: Eric 20220 Posted on: America Online sorry I didn't mean to put this message in the sonic Cd folder Eric20220Subj: AnswerDaSpook Date: 93-11-01 11:32:26 EST From: VicVideo Posted on: America Online Yes, Working Designs is a game developer for the SEGA-CD and TurboGrafx CD. However, GF says that Sonic 3 _WILL_ be coming out this year, will be 16 meg, and is supposed to be even better than Sonic CD. My guess is that they're _WAAAAAAAAAY_ overrating Sonic CD and that Sonic 3 probably won't actually come out this year...but anything's possible with video games, I suppose. :- ) JasonTESubj: ... Date: 93-11-04 21:04:37 EST From: Fox 1001 Posted on: America Online GameFan is CONVINCED that 4 Sonic games will come out. October and November GF proves it... Sonic 3 will NOT come out this year... As for the 100% reviews they gave Sonic CD... I TOTALLY disagree with it. It's a good Sonic game, possibly better in variety than Sonic 2, but the slowdown REALLY detracts from the game. Perfect games, in my book, do not contain the programming flaws of slowdown... GameFan went WAY overboard with the 4 100% reviews. It is NOT a perfect game. Some of the gameplay is quite confusing...like the "3-d" ramp in level one...the ramp rotates around as you go up it, but when you come down, the land is normal again. For perspective continuity, this is wrong and slightly confusing. If my explanation is confusing, wait until the game comes out so you can see for yourself. My "GF" rating: 85% (I gave it a "7" a month ago, but it grew on me)...by all means, it does NOT deserve a 100%. -Fox-Subj: Fox 1001... Date: 93-11-05 13:42:23 EST From: JasonTE Posted on: America Online I think that you're right about Sonic CD and Sonic 3. It just doesn't seem like it would make much sense for Sega to release Sonic 3 within a month or so of Sonic CD being released. I would think that most Sega CD owners would just wait for Sonic 3 rather than getting Sonic CD. Wether or not Sonic 3 comes out this year, though, it should be interesting to see how GF explains that it's better than Sonic CD, even though they called Sonic CD a perfect game. The point is that, obviously, GF (and every other magazine really) needs to be MUCH more realistic in their ratings. I have yet to play a game that I'd give 90% or higher. I also wonder why EGM, which is VERY prone to over-hyping games like Sonic and SMB, would give Sonic CD merely two 8's and two 9's, which is fairly low by EGM standards, if it's such a great game. :- ) JasonTESubj: Sonic Spinball Date: 93-11-13 22:23:25 EST From: Dr Fax Posted on: America Online Are you refering to Sonic Spinball as Sonic 3, or is that another?Subj: Dr Fax... I loved the first game and am planning to get the sequel(Does anyone know if it is out yet?). Toe Jam & Earl could defintaley lead Sega into the future. I hate to say it, but I think Sonic is beyond saving. The same old thing, with the same old items in 6 games! Only Sonic Spinball is unique from the rest of them. A message to Sega... (or maybe A and C are reversed.) Start cycling throug the sprites. Eventually you will get to the boxes. One holds a free sonic, one holds rings, one has a clock in it, and there are several ones to get like shields. The very last one is a yello S. It is just like the Sonic 3 S excepte it is yello insead of blue. The box it is in is alittle diferent also. If you jump on the S you become super xoni That is suposted to be ...
