Adam Packbell is a very intelligent young adult from Las Vegas, who's rescue of a pixie named Firestorm brought on the Legal attack that brought on the cataclysm that is the basis of the game. The method Adam used to revive Firestorm is an example of his hobby of being a freelance Imagineer, which he busies himself with when he's not in school or learning kendo—and a fighting style inspired by an anime show—with an edgeless samurai sword. A sword that was turned into a keyblade during the cataclysm, and as a Keybearer, Adam is in charge of taking out the Heartless, and find a way to either reverse the Dimension Rift over Disneyland Park, or at the very least hold it in check.

In the meantime, not only is he a Heartless magnet because of him being the one who got away from the actual portal opening, but he is still being hunted by the overzealous Lawyer. When he's in a party, that party's percentage of a random encounter has an additional 5% because of this.

Adam actually started this game before the rift was even open, hence he begins at Level 2. And accepting Mickey’s offer to help save the Magic Kingdom has given him plenty of Whuffie.
There are also an unknown person who has and will be giving him notes and advice on his quest to restore the rift and defeat the heartless. Adam doesn't know who this person is or where these notes are comming from, which will irk him somewhat along the way.
