When a Lurker Speaks?
Plenty of people do things on the Internet. This is the most obvious statement ever written, true, but that’s what makes the web a new and exciting place to explore every single day. Who knows what cool thing you could find on YouTube, what tweet will make you laugh, what podcast will force you to binge the entire thing?
The Internet helps stimulate the creative process. And over the years, I’ve had friends who have been inspired themselves, going off and making a show, a podcast, a livestream - something for people to enjoy. On occasion, I’ve been lucky enough to be invited on to their projects, say a few silly things, and watch them do their thing.
For those interested, a collection of places where I’ve sat down behind a microphone and rambled a bit. This is not a complete list, but sometimes, things get delisted.
- Find The Computer Room
- The name of the channel might be a meme, but there’s more to it than meets the eye. Originally run by TheRealFTA, I was invited to sit in on their Let’s Play of Chaotix, where I immediately began talking about Vector the Crocodile’s quest to find God. Now operated by MykonosFan, I guess they’ve let me stick around. Heck.
- The Charity Room
- Affiliated with FTCR, The Charity Room is an organization that has raised money for a variety of causes since 2016. How do they do such a thing? By playing video games over the Internet on Twitch! I’ve snuck on a few live playthroughs, and even played a game or two.
- Sonic Weekly
- A podcast released every seven days. Produced by Grant Pardee, who hosts along with myself and our own Burning Rangers Correspondent, Bo. With plenty of Sonic the Hedgehog talk and a plethora of exciting and interesting guests, there’s something for everyone! Well, assuming you like Sonic.
- The Sonic Show: The Opinion Zone
- The podcast version of the long-running YouTube channel. Hosted by Jamie Egge Mann, I was invited in 2015 to sit in and talk about Ken Penders, a topic I know a bit too much about. Somehow, they let me back on in 2016, where I eventually became a semi-permanent guest host.
- SEGA Channel Retro & SAGE Readings
- Affiliated with Sonic Retro, SEGA Channel Retro is run by the infallible Bartman3010. I’ve poked my head in a couple times when I’ve gotten the chance. The fanfic readings on this page, done for the Sonic Amateur Games Expo, are not on SEGA Channel Retro, but are on this page anyway.
- SEGAbits
- In 2013, Sonic Retro and SEGAbits joined forces to spread the good word of Service Games across the land. As a result of that partnership, me and Barry the Nomad created some YouTube content together. I even participated in two panels they put on for Too Many Games.
- Retrocast
- Sonic Retro has tried to have a podcast a few times. They always stall out after a couple episodes. They exist, so I figured I should list them here.
- The David and Gold Show
- Back in the day, when Winamp Shoutcast was a thing, The Golden Sonic and I tried to make an Internet radio show. Streaming it on Sonic Eats Rings, we had an audience that sometimes went beyond single digits!
- Things I Am In (Talking About Sonic Mostly)
- A convenient playlist featuring everything I’ve ever done (that’s on Youtube). Comes in two flavors: Newest to Oldest, or Oldest to Newest. Each has its advantages.
- Return.
