| Tikal, daughter of Pachacamac (the echidna chieftain), spent great
deals of time at the Master Emerald shrine, playing with the Chao
creatures who inhabited the area. To her, it was a peaceful escape from
the actions of her war-loving tribe, which troubled her greatly. Trouble,
however, was a-brewin'... When the echidnas made their move on the Master
Emerald, lead by none other than the echidna chieftain, the tides of fate
shifted for the worse. Tikal's pleas were ignored, and her own father
ordered his men to silence her by force. Dozens of helpless Chao were
slain in the charge for the Master Emerald, which was the last straw for
Chaos, protector of the liquid creatures. Chaos went on a rampage,
destroying the entire echidna civilization...except for Tikal. Seeing what
needed to be done, Tikal sealed within the Master Emerald both the souls
of herself and Chaos.
An unknown number of years later, Chaos and Tikal are freed when Robotnik shatters the Master Emerald. Although she is unable to do anything on her own, she follows and assists Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Big, and E-102; even giving them visions of the echidna civilization shortly before its ultimate destruction. This is to show them the true nature of the enemy they face: Chaos, who is growing ever stronger as Robotnik feeds the beast more Chaos Emeralds. At the end of the battle, Sonic is able to calm Chaos' heart, and Tikal's spirit is set free. -- Starring Roles --
