The original soundtrack of Sonic R. R's soundtrack is rather notorious, but I happen to be one of the handfull who adore the cheesy, disco-esque melodies. My main complaint is that the CD only includes the vocalized versions, with no sign of the instrumentals (which are just as nice). In fact, except for the two remixed tracks, there's nothing on the music CD that you can't hear by simply popping the actual game CD into your stereo. I'd recommend it only for collectors, or if you (like me) enjoy hearing the esoteric tunes on the go. The manual is nice, and contains a foreword (in both English and Japanese) by Richard Jaques. The front cover gives some hints on what the "R" might stand for:
Reach for a new dimension.
Ready for a new excitement.
Road leads you to a new world.
Rivals are here.
Race it for the victory.
"R" is it.
