Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Robotnik, Metal Sonic, and Nack have all put their weapons down and

were friends become rivals; as these racers will stop at nothing to get their hands on the Chaos
Emeralds, the goal of each race. Each racer's souped-up vehicle has its own unique abilities and
flaws, and they'll use every trick in the book (and a few that aren't) to put each other out of
the running!

For the most part, Drift 2 is identical to its predecessor. Gameplay is exactly the same,
although the courses are marginally more complex. There are three more characters to play as,
but the backgrounds are less detailed. The main enhancement is the computer AI...now your
opponents will do anything they can to cramp your style, and are not afraid to go out of their
way to push you off the track or toss an obstacle in your path that'll have the pit crew
wondering. Unfortunately, in the interest of challenge, opponents have also been cheapened with
that immensely annoying feature that pushes laggers ahead. This makes it nearly impossible to
place first, as you have a better chance of winning a race by pulling ahead at the last
second than maintaining a lead. This one piercing flaw really does hurt what could otherwise be
a pretty good racer.
The characters are as follows:
- Sonic the Hedgehog (in the "Cyclone") is high on speed, but low on control. He has a dash
move that zips him ahead of the competition.
- Miles "Tails" Prower (in the "Whirlwind S7") doesn't have any particular strengths or
weaknesses. He can leap right over anyone in his way.
- Knuckles the Echidna (in the "Tempest") excels in control, but isn't big on speed. If his
opponent is far away, he'll leap over them (like Tails), but nearby and he'll deck 'em with a
Knuckles sandwich...
- Amy Rose (in the "Breeze") can gain the early leads with speedy acceleration, but has a hard
time keeping up with a slow engine. Her "Heart Attack" will daze any opponent it hits, slowing
down their reaction time.
- Dr. Ivo Robotnik/Eggman (in the "Egg Typhoon") can tear around corners without even slowing
down, but has a hard time getting back up to speed after he does ease up... He tosses
mines, and I don't need to tell you what they do...
- Metal Sonic (in the "Blue Devil") is an extreme version of Sonic...high on speed, low on
handling. His Super Dash takes him even farther than Sonic's, but has a price of three
Rings to perform (as opposed to the standard two).
- Nack the Weasel/Fang the Sniper (in the "Marvelous Queen") can snag an early lead with quick
acceleration, and then hang on to it with fairly high speed...but loose handling may cause him
more trouble than it's worth... Fang chucks Oil Balls that send his opponents for a spin.
Emerald Hill Zone: Sparkling beaches with sugar white sand wrap around an island resort.
Rolling hills make up the interior area of the tropical paradise, and palmtrees sway in the sea
breezes. (Purple GP, White GP)
|
Hill Top Zone: Ramps provide speedy transportation between heights on these mountain
peaks. Motora zigzags around the track, attempting to cramp the runners' style... (Purple GP,
White GP)
|
Dark Valley Zone: Darkness rules over this foreboding canyon. Ominous skies hide the
dark fate that awaits all those who fall off the track... (Purple GP, Blue GP)
|
Casino Night Zone: Glowing neon lights and floating bumpers light up this massive casino
city. The sparkling sea of stars above holds no shine over the exciting nightlife below.
(Purple GP)
|
Desert Road Zone: Cacti stand silently against the dry desert wasteland like the remnants
of lost souls. Water is but a dream where the sun beats down mercilessly upon the dry sand.
(Purple GP, White GP)
|
Iron Ruin Zone: Mecha Vulture rules the abandoned Iron Ruin scrap yard. Slow down, and it
might mistake you for a metallic meal... (Purple GP)
|
Rainy Savannah Zone: The sun never shines, but lightning flares up the path on the
expansive savannah. The pelting rain creates dangerous mudslides on the track. (White GP)
|
Ice Cap Zone: The eerie beauty of IceCap's jagged cliffs and snow-capped peaks hides the
dangerous nature of the Zone. Freezing water flows through icy caverns beneath the arctic
wasteland. (White GP)
|
Mystic Cave Zone: Eerie flickering lights flare up around the dark passages in this
massive underground cavern. Stalagmites jut out from the track, while cracks lead to shortcuts.
(White GP)
|
Quake Cave Zone: Earthquakes frequently rumble through this dark cavern. Stalagmites are
a hazard, but falling rocks are the racers' real enemy. (Blue GP)
|
Balloon Panic Zone: Hot air balloons dot the skyline in this field, but the runners' real
concern are the balloon bumpers and power-ups that hover along the track... (Blue GP)
|
Emerald Ocean Zone: Slowing down on the gorgeous crystal waters is a death wish...or
atleast a wish to lose the race, because once you go down, it takes awhile to come back up...
(Blue GP)
|
Milky Way Zone: It's a dash for Robotnik's Death Egg on this stellar track through the
stars. Things get ugly when a meteor shower goes against the flow of the race... (Blue GP)
|
Death Egg Zone: Bright lights flash wildly around the Eggman's home base, creating a
hypnotic scenario that will have lesser racers lost in the confusion. (Blue GP)
