Ask anyone what their favorite Zone in Sonic 3 & Knuckles was and the answer will almost always be IceCap. Despite the obvious visual similarities with the original Zone, Sonic 3's IceCap and Adventure's Icecap (neither of which are to be confused with Sonic Drift 2's "Ice Cap") can't be one and the same, unless "Mystic Ruin" is infact on Floating Island. Whatever the case, the third dimension treats this classic level well, flawlessy creating the eerily beautiful scenario of jagged, snow-capped mountain peaks. Either a skier's worst nightmare or greatest dream, or maybe both...
Tails' demo was in this level at the Fall '98 Tokyo Game Show. His goal was a snowboarding race against Sonic down the side of the mountain. Sounds easy enough, but things get complicated when an avalanche develops right on his tail (or rather, tails)... Unfortunately, there's apparently some noticable slowdown in this level in the Japanese version. Although it starts off at the standard 60fps, it slows down to 30 by the end of the level, and at some points dips down as low as the 32-bit standard 15. It's yet to be seen whether this will be fixed for the US release...
