Honey, I Shrunk the Hedgehog

If y'all will recall earlier this year, word was an official Sonic game was being developed for SNK's 16-bit handheld, NeoGeo Pocket Color. In the following months, dozens of titles were confirmed for the bitty button-bopper, but no further word on Bad Blue's alleged appearance. (Try repeating that sentence three times fast.) There's still nothing official, but the fact that the rumor mill has been churning on the subject once again could have those of us who had eventually brushed the idea off going "hm..." again. It's not totally far-fetched, as Sega is a confirmed developer for SNK's direct attack on Game Boy.

Anyway, the recent rumor is that it will be a traditional 2D Sonic (obviously), and that it will be completely new, not a port as previously suspected. Word also has it that the title is being developed under the direct guidance of the Sonic Team. As I've said before, I've got my eyes hard on the upcoming Tokyo Game Show. If the game is to be out before the end of the year as reported, it will be shown there. If not, it means the death of this rumor once and for all. I, for one, hope it's the real thing, because I'd love to own one of those kawaii little buggers and a new Sonic game would be all that I need to justify the investment.

On a side note, I actually had a dream the other night where I was strolling around a local food mart (*shrug*), and I stumbled upon a brand new Sonic game for some random, non-Sega handheld system. I wanted to buy it on the spot, but I didn't have any money with me, so I had to run back home and get some cash...but by the time I got back, they were all sold out. *shudder* God, I hope this isn't an omen...
