Four months after its release, Sonic Adventure is still topping the Japanese Dreamcast
sales charts. Total units sold at this point are 383,440. The nearest contender in the race is
Sega Rally 2, clocking in at 341,714 units sold...a mere 41,726 units behind. It looks
like SA is going to be the top-selling Dreamcast game for some time, especially pending its US
and European releases. (Sonic carries alot more muscle among English-speaking audiences than he
does in his home country of Japan.)
However, having this said, it's still a pretty pathetic picture when pitted against top-selling
games on other platforms. Final Fantasy VIII had no trouble at all topping the 3,000,000
mark, and even Super Smash Brothers has managed over 700,000 in sales. Which basically
means that the Dreamcast is still getting its butt whupped over on the other side of the Pacific.
But atleast Sonic's on the soft side of the attack...
