No More Pre-Ordering Adventure

Sega has recently asked Japanese retailers to discontinue taking pre-orders for Sonic Adventure, Dreamcast's most-anticipated title. This is further evidence that the blue speed demon's Dreamcast debut (as well as the system's flagship title) has indeed suffered another delay. Although the word on this most recent knock-back still hasn't been confirmed by Sega, the only thing they've yet to do is officialize it. According to one source, the December 23 date was never 100% definite.

Yesterday, it was reported that Climax's Blue Stinger and Sting's Evolution were both pushed into '99, and today it was officially announced that Climax's highly-anticipated RPG Climax Landers was delayed into the next year as well. Sonic Adventure is the only target left...

Personally, I think that they officially delayed SA long ago. However, they are hesitant to announce it to the public for fear of further damaging Dreamcast's holiday sales. Reportedly (and predictably), Godzilla Generations and Pen Pen aren't worth their salt, and very few people are going to spend $250 plus the cost of the game just for Virtua Fighter 3tb. If Dreamcast is to be a success in Japan, we certainly won't know it until next year.
