Sonic Adventure with Network Play?

Remember how in Sonic 2 and 3, a second player could pick up controller 2 and move Tails around at any point during gameplay? Well, it seems that Sonic Team would like to incorporate a similar feature in Sonic Adventure..."1.5" play, as it's called. I'm not certain how this would work (as Adventure usually only has one character on-screen at a time), but apparently it's easier said than done. The Sonic Team has been doing some experimenting with the feature, but are worried that adding it will slow the game down and further delay the release.

This information comes from Chan Chin Shan (he signed my guestbook awhile back, and occasionally visits the SoJ english forum), who runs a popular Chinese Sega site. One of his sources who attended TGS a couple of weeks ago had the opportunity to speak with Yuji Naka himself. As it's looking, although the Team would like to incorporate 1.5 gameplay, it isn't likely to make the final cut. (Maybe in Sonic Adventure 2, neh?) But on an interesting note, Naka-sama ended with a smile, mentioning that network play might be an alternative. Hm... I guess we'll all know for sure come December 10...
