Sonic Adventure to be Delayed Again?

No, not officially. However, two more of Sega's Dreamcast flagships have been postponed to next year. Climax's Blue Stinger and Sting's Evolution have been delayed to March '99 and January 21, respectively; and rumor has it that Sonic Adventure may be the next title to slip.

If Sonic Adventure does slip past its current December 23 release date, top Sega execs will rightfully be smoking through packs of cigarettes and swigging booze by the barrel. Sega of Japan has succeeded in what may possibly be the most fumbled launch attempt in videogame history. Of course, a less-than-stellar launch doesn't ensure the failure of the system. The software is on the way, and Japanese gamers know it. But if Dreamcast does turn out to be a monster success in Japan, it won't be instantaneous. Particularly if Sonic Adventure is delayed into '99, the Dreamcast's first holiday season will certainly not be a noteworthy one, and definitely not what Sega had in mind. ...although I must admit, I do derive a greed-driven joy from the possibility of Sonic Adventure being delayed again. I can't stand the thought of anyone playing the game before I do...
