It's been rumored for awhile now, but this morning it became official.
Sonic Adventure, along with other Dreamcast titles (Sega Rally
2, Blue Stinger, and Incoming) have suffered delays that
could seriously hurt Dreamcast's holiday sales in Japan. It's doubtful that
even Virtua Fighter 3tb (now the only big launch title) will be
enough to get Dreamcast off the ground this year, but the delays are
probably for the better in the long run. Sonic Adventure has been
pushed back to December 23, but further delays are always a
possibility...especially given Yuji Naka's stance that the game will be
delayed as often as necessary to ensure a flawless product.
Luckily, Japanese gamers don't necessarily have to wait that long to play
the game. Dreamcast demo units have shipped to over 5000 Japanese
retailers, with Sonic Adventure being the playable demo title. Be
careful if you have any trips to Japan planned...the retail stores over
there could get violent over the next couple of weeks...
