I know Popcorn is going to give me hell for acknowledging this, but today (or yesterday, for some of you) is the one year anniversary of Sonic Adventure 2, which means that it's Rouge the Bat's birthday.
... I don't really care, but I just thought I'd point it out.
Oh, I guess that you could also say that today is the one year anniversary of ANOTHER obscenely popular character. But I'm quite sure the majority of people at the GHZ would prefer he not be acknowledged.

Sega has announced that Sonic Team will be revealing the next game in the Sonic the Hedgehog series at the upcoming World Hobby Fair in Japan, which will be held on July 13 and 14. Unfortunately, there are currently no details regarding specific platforms. Sega also announced that Super Monkey Ball 2 will be playable at its booth and that it will also be offering a rare chao download for showgoers. We'll have more as it becomes available.

News, or something like it…

"News" - You may remember the concept. I think we may have had some a few months ago...I’m not sure. Anyway I’ve rounded up a few titbits of Sonic happenings from around the net for your reading pleasure:
Okay, first up: Yuji Naka has won some lottery that allows him to receive his brand spanking new Ferrari 360 ahead of time (The process usually takes up to a year). Click Here for a nonsensical Japanese report coupled with a smattering of photos of the smug git himself. Thanks to Zefei and Sonic HQ for that one!
Next on the list is some rumblings that originated from STH Area 51 and are doing the rounds at the moment. It’s a translation of some Japanese SA2 storyline concerning everyone’s favourite homosexual hedgehog Shadow. I’ll leave whether it’s true or not up to your judgement, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was. As any Sonic fan knows, this isn’t the first time we’ve been lied to in the storyline department...
Finally, an interview with Sonic X-Treme’s Mike Wallis has surfaced thanks to “BlazeHedgehog”. It’s an interesting read that details several aspects of the game’s troubled development, including the efforts of the team, the game's constant platform jumping, and Naka’s general bitchyness! Head over to The Forum to check it out!
So savour the news, ‘cause it’s all you’ll be getting for another month, I guarantee!

SoJ Ready to Ship Last 500 Dreamcasts

Dreamcast's legacy, which started at the end of November of 1998, will finally come to an official end after a prolonged and slowly drawn-out death. The last 500 Dreamcasts ever produced are ready to be shipped out by Sega of Japan, by the end of June. These aren't the normal gray models either; SoJ has special-edition black R7 models for sale, and these are only available through D-Direct, SoJ's online store.
You can get them alone for 9,900 Yen (approximately 80 Euros, or $80 US). Shoppers who are willing to pay extra to obtain the highly elusive broadband adapter (here in the States, at least...) will have to pay 17,700 Yen, which comes to roughly 150 Euros, or $142 US.
SOURCE: Apparently the site that hosted this news story went down. So I had to go to stupid lengths to get that image working again. Shut up and don't ask.
Bow your heads and shed a tear... It's the end of an era, folks.
