Since everyone else seems to have forgotten...

Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II is now available for Nintendo's GameCube. Sega's official game page has useless information about it.
Edit by Green Gibbon!: Perhaps if someone had thought to release a goddamn keyboard with the game, we'd care. I think that, under the circumstances, we're all waiting for the Xbox version...

Yesterday (October 25) was the 10 year anniversary of the debut of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Master System. Because that game was Tails' very first appearance, that means yesterday was the tenth anniversary of Miles "Tails" Prower. Yesterday also happened to be Dachande's birthday. This shocks and horrifies me.
Also, this is the second time this has been reported, meaning that the GHZ newsboard is now over a year old! I feel accomplished.

Yeah, whatever. New Sonic Cafe title! This time Sonic the Hedgehog infringes on Microsoft copyrights with his own take on Minesweeper, ingeniously titled... Something in Japanese. Anyhow, there are supposedly two modes of play and some other junk that I didn't bother to read. Not that I can read Japanese.
Full official Japanese webpage at Sonic Team's site... Here.
EDIT: Thanks to the GHZ's very own G. Silver, we now have the game's title. The full title in Japanese is 'Sonikku no Jirai Sagashi Geemu,' which translates to 'Sonic's Mine Search Game.' No comment but Silv's own words: Very creative. Yeah.

PSO X-Box Keeps Looking Better...

...And better. Check this snippet from GamerWeb:
I personally chatted with a Microsoft rep recently and he provided me with even more good news. According to the information available to him, PSO will be out in the US sometime in November 2002, although no exact date is known at this time. If that doesn't get you excited wait to you hear this, he also informed me that there would NOT be any additional fees (other than your LIVE subscription) to play any online game in North America, including PSO. This of course does not include charges for any premium content that would be in addition to standard gameplay.)
Hmm. And this is from GamerWeb, a reputable source in my opinion. If this turns out to be true, the GameCube version of PSO is going to look really weak next to its X-Box cousin. The entire article is right here.

Ring Those Wedding Bells...

From a feature article at Sega of America's website:
When most gamers sit down for an adventure into the wilds of Phantasy Star Online, few probably think "I'm going to meet the person of my dreams today." But that is just what has been happening for several PSO players. In response to this increasing phenomenon, a Japanese magazine known as Weekly Famitsu put out a call for couples that met and got married after meeting their mates through playing Phantasy Star Online.
Okay, now I thought online romances via regular internet computer communication was stupid. However, this beats all I've ever seen. To each their own, I suppose...

IGN's got a detailed report on how Sega of America's been doing this year software sales-wise. Check it out... Good stuff. Worth noting is the fact that Sonic Team's port-tastic Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is Sega of America's best-selling title of the year, not to mention the best-selling GameCube title of the year (so far).

PSO GC Pricing Is...

Apparently this price is now official. Phantasy Star Online Episodes I & II for GameCube will cost $8.95 US a month to play online. I can think of only one word to accurately describe this fee: Ouch. Could all these apparent shafts up Nintendo's butt be due to Microsoft's business manipulation? Who knows, but the X-Box version of PSO is suddenly beginning to look much more enticing to many people, what with all the supposed extras, and highly possible lower online fee. I guess we'll know for sure when it all happens... At least the GC version still features 4-player mode.
