It's okay to make plans for this weekend; we've been granted a brief reprieve.
Chu-Chu Rocket has been delayed a week to March 7, according to Sega's online store. If
you pre-order at Sega Online before March 2 (the original release date), you're guaranteed to get
your copy on day one. Ah, well...not "guaranteed", but much more likely than if you wait until
the last minute.
On a brighter note, it seems that ChuČ players from both of the world's
strongest superpowers will be able to challenge each other for honor, patriotism, or just for
kicks. Which means that when ChuČ launches on March 7, we US players will be able to mingle with
Japanese players and vice-versa. (Those cheeky Europeans will probably also be allowed in on the
game as soon as it launches in their smelly old corner of the world come April.) Data from all
the servers will be implemented into the global ranking, and there will also be occasional
online tournaments and contests ala Sonic Adventure. In addition, you'll be able to
upload your own custom levels for Rocketeers worldwide to appreciate.
According to FGN, there are going to be
eight active servers here in the states and two in Japan (which are probably already running).
Finally, here are a couple of scans of the amusing US CCR ad:
